RM Honors Program

Recreation Management Honors Program

The Department of Recreation Management and Physical Education offers an honors program in Recreation Management to undergraduate students with distinguished academic records. The program was developed for high-achieving students seeking additional challenging scholastic experiences. Students must complete 9 hours of honors credit consisting of 3 hours of senior honors thesis (RM 4110/4510) under the guidance of their thesis supervisor. The remaining 6 hours of credit can be earned by negotiating an honors contract with the faculty in certain Recreation Management courses. Credit earned in courses taken for honors credit can be applied towards the undergraduate degree in Recreation Management. For admission into the honors program, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.45 in all coursework and complete a departmental application to the honors program. To graduate with an “Honors in Recreation Management,” the student must complete the above honors sequence with a minimum grade of “B” in courses taken for honors credit and a cumulative GPA of 3.45 in all coursework at the time of graduation.

Students who are interested in pursuing Departmental Honors should contact the Recreation Management Honors Program Director, Dr. Erik Rabinowitz, rabinowitze@appstate.edu.
