Concentrations

As part of the degree requirements in Health and Physical Education, majors must complete a specific type of concentration, known as a Second Academic Concentration (SAC).

SAC Defined

The UNC Policy Manual (400.1.3.1[R]) issued by the President of the NC Board of Governor's regulates that teacher education programs offered by the constituent universities (UNC System) must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours in a SAC.

In accordance, all students majoring in Health and Physical Education at ASU are required to complete an approved SAC consisting of a minimum of 18 semester hours in a basic academic discipline. Depending on the academic discipline selected, a maximum of six (6) hours may be counted toward both General Education requirements and the second concentration.
