Course Description:
This course is designed to develop fundamental lifeguarding and water safety skills and knowledge. Topics include history, terminology, wellness, safety, equipment, CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid, judgment, aquatic hazards, and recognizing/rescuing people in distress. Upon successful completion, students should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for certification by the American Red Cross. Obtaining certification is not required to earn a grade. Requirements: Ability to swim 300 yards (front crawl/breast stroke) without pause and retrieve brick from deep water. Course fee required for American Red Cross Certification.
