Backpacking/Orienteering

Course Description: 
This course is designed to develop fundamental backpacking skills and knowledge. Topics include history, terminology, wellness, safety, equipment, Leave No Trace etiquette, judgement, trail navigation with a pack, topographic map/compass use, camping techniques, and meal planning. Upon successful completion, students should be able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to participate in overnight backpacking trips in wilderness areas and make healthy life choices.
